I enjoyed a boat ride on a brisk early morning with Kevin from Delta Yacht Charters. He shared his knowledge on boats, the Delta and the Marina’s in the area. I actually got to drive this vessel and was surprised that boats did not have a brake pedal. I learned a lot on this adventure and am looking forward to doing it again. Shauna Arreguin
The morning was chilly but the sun was shining bright warming the beginning part of our journey. We pulled up to be greeted by a smiling Kevin O’Leary who knew exactly who we were. With open arms he introduced himself and lead us into the slips where his vessel lay. He held out his hand to help us board his vessel and opened up the cabin immediately to make sure we were warm (he had graciously turned on the heater and cute little faux fireplace for a nice effect).
 
Once all the goodies were on board, he walked us through his vessel to make sure we were secure and that we knew where everything was. The cabin was warm and cozy, almost like being at home away from home. Kevin assured us that we are free to roam the cabin and visit him at the helm anytime we please. Off he went to the helm and started us on our journey.
 
We pulled slowly out of the marina, there was never a ‘hold your breath’ moment even though the quarters were tight in the marina. He carefully maneuvered his way through and into the open Delta waters. I stepped out to enjoy the cool air and calm waters. Not once was I worried about where to step or where I could be, I felt like it was my own yacht. I watched the stream of white wash the vessel made leaving our mark behind. There was ample seating and I was able to enjoy a calm conversation with the others. There was no screaming over a loud engine or grabbing onto a railing due to rough operation, everything was nice and smooth. I ascended up the steps to enjoy the view from the helm. I sat next to Kevin as he was cruising through the waters. The sun beat down on my wind chilled face, like stepping out onto the porch of my beach house. Kevin looked and had a smile which warmed me even more and we started to chat. Not once did he make me feel like we were interviewing each other and our conversation made me feel that he was an old friend and that we were just catching up.
 
I descended down to the cabin to enjoy that cute little fireplace and more conversation with the others. At first, I was weary that I would be missing all the beautiful sites the Delta had to offer. However, the windows had ample viewing and I did not miss a thing. The vessel acted like a rocking chair and I started to doze off! The seating was so comfortable like a home sofa and I leaned over using one of his fluffy pillows to lay my head on. I am guilty of taking a cat nap but woke up to the sun glistening on the water and the gentle roar of the engine letting me know that we were still going. At this point, I didn’t care where we were going, I was comfortable.
 
At this point, Kevin was delivering our atmosphere of the sites that we were looking at to the others and we were amazed of how much Delta life we were able to see. From the birds, the foliage, the islands…it was nature. We arrived in Antioch and he took us around the bridge carefully. There were people fishing off the pier and having picnics out in the grass parks. This is when we decided we were a bit hungry.
 
There were about 9 of us that took this trip together, a lot of food to spread out. Nonetheless, everything fit! We enjoyed our lunch and walked outside and inside of the cabin with ease. Not once did we worry about anyone operating the vessel as it felt safe to just enjoy the food, people and view. Just like home, we ate as we pleased and went where we pleased. I didn’t want to see it come to an end.
 
We finally arrived back at the slip and with ease, he nestled the vessel right in. Making sure everything was secure and ok, he made sure that we got what we came for, a mini vacation. He superseded my expectations on the luxury of the Delta and being able to see its amazing natural sites. Not once did he push us out of the vessel or made us feel that we had to rush out of there. We chatted a little bit and he even walked us to our cars, making sure we were all in safe.
 
Thank you Kevin for a priceless adventure in only a matter of hours. It compared to a deep tissue massage and relaxed us completely. My mind was free and I had gained views that you would only imagine to see in movies. I can’t wait to take this adventure again!"-Maria Lawrence
